Rwanda - Ruli Women's Coffee

Few coffees we source carry impact like our Women’s Microlot from Rwanda.
Produced by 136 women farming the hills around Ruli Washing Station Dukunde Kawa Cooperative’s largest site—this lot plays a meaningful role in supporting financial independence for female producers.

In Rwanda, farm size is measured not by land, but by the number of coffee trees tended. Most contributors manage a few hundred trees on small plots alongside food crops and livestock.

Many are members of Rambagirakawa, a women’s alliance within Dukunde Kawa formed to advocate for greater support and opportunity. By organising specific delivery days, the women ensure their cherries are processed separately as a designated “Women’s Coffee” lot, earning an additional bonus on top of quality premiums.

Founded in 2012, Rambagirakawa has grown into a powerful network creating opportunity, amplifying women’s voices, and strengthening futures across their community.
