Colombia - El Oasis

El Oasis and El Recreo are two family-run farms in Gaitania, Tolima, owned by Doña Luzmila and her husband, Eider. Growing up in the city, Luzmila always dreamed of life on the land. In 2008, she made that dream real, buying El Oasis with a bank loan and planting her first coffee trees, guided by the wisdom of her neighbours and local coffee-growing community. She embraced organic practices and earned certification eight years after establishing El Oasis. Her second farm, El Recreo, complements the first, together growing traditional Colombian varieties like Caturra, Castillo, Colombia, and Typica. Harvest can be challenging, but the local community’s support turns picking cherries into a celebration of collaboration. Luzmila’s dedication and care are reflected in every cup. Luzmila and her husband have four children, who love to help out on the farm with their parents in their spare time.
