Lake Kivu Rwanda
The Kivu area has the ideal conditions for growing coffee with a slightly warmer climate than the north and some of the highest elevations in the country with nutrient rich volcanic soil. This lot was produced at the Murundo washing station owned by Furaha Umwizeye. The station collects coffee cherries from their own plantations as well as 300 other local subsistence farmers with less than an average of 300 coffee trees. They use the income made from coffee sales to send their children to school, pay for medical care and investing in livestock. The relationship with Umwizeye is through our partners in the north, Buf Coffee who we have sourced coffee through for seven years.
