High in the Cordillera Isabelia and near the misty forests of Cerro Datanlí–El Diablo, seven devoted growers tend their coffee the way their families always have by working with the land, not against it.
Their farms sit among fertile soils, clear rivers, and protected springs, where tradition guides every step, even as innovation reshapes their craft.A decade ago, Nicaragua knew mostly washed coffees. But as curiosity grew, so did ambition.
With guidance from Caravela’s Growers Education Program in Jinotega, these producers began experimenting—longer fermentations, better picking, and eventually the first natural-process lots in 2019–2020.
The results exceeded every hope. Today, 70% Catuai and 30% Caturra cherries are handpicked, floated clean, and carried in fresh bags to the drying stations, where they rest on raised beds for up to four slow weeks.
Each batch is cupped and traced with care, ensuring La Venus reaches the world exactly as it began authentic, vibrant, and deeply rooted in its origin.
