Las Hermosas is a coffee-growing region in Tolima, Colombia, nestled near the breathtaking Las Hermosas Natural Reserve. This high-altitude area (1,400–2,100m) benefits from fertile clay loam soil, abundant water, and a climate ideal for exceptional coffee. Many farmers here have deep-rooted traditions, operating family-run farms that also cultivate sugarcane, plantains, and fruit trees. Despite the area’s past struggles with internal conflict, coffee has driven economic progress and improved livelihoods.

Caravela began working with farmers in 2020, initially purchasing coffee from Rioblanco. In 2022, a new station in Chaparral allowed more farmers to participate, expanding Las Hermosas from 12 contributors with the potential for more. These producers use traditional washed processing, fermenting cherries for 18–26 hours before sun-drying on parabolic patios or Casa Helda rooftops.

Las Hermosas coffee is known for its citric fragrance, yellow fruit notes, chocolate undertones, and sugary aftertaste—an extraordinary representation of Colombia’s diverse coffee heritage.
