Rwanda Mbilima Women’s Coffee Organic - Espresso

Mbilima Women’s Coffee Organic is a bright, juicy lot produced by 60 women farmers in Rwanda’s Gakenke District. Grown at 2,020m and processed at Mbilima Washing Station—owned by the Dukunde Kawa Cooperative—this Red Bourbon coffee is fully washed, resulting in a refined cup with notes of brown sugar, hibiscus tea, cooking chocolate, and yellow peach.

The women behind this coffee are members of Rambagirakawa, an alliance advocating for female coffee producers. By processing and marketing their harvest separately, they earn additional bonuses, creating greater financial independence.

Mbilima, one of Rwanda’s highest-altitude washing stations, is 100% organic and Fair Trade certified. The cooperative’s commitment to sustainable farming has improved both quality and livelihoods. Each step, from handpicking to meticulous sorting and drying, reflects the dedication of these women.
