Guatemala - Santa Isabel Estate

Jasmine Lemongrass

Santa Isabel is a fifth-generation family farm located in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala—a region known for its rugged mountains, cool climate, and abundant rainfall. Established in 1875, the farm is currently owned by Luis Valdés Sr. and managed by his son, Wicho, who has been passionate about coffee since childhood. Covering 300 hectares, the farm dedicates nearly 200 hectares to diverse coffee varieties and maintains 88 hectares as a forest reserve to promote biodiversity. Wicho employs sustainable farming practices, reducing chemical use by introducing organic solutions that enhance plant health and resistance to pests. The farm's high altitude and unique climate result in a staggered flowering and long harvest period, allowing for meticulous cherry selection. Santa Isabel has earned a reputation for its commitment to quality, sustainability, and community, attracting skilled workers who return yearly, drawn by fair wages and a respectful working environment.
